Anna
Gallegos is a 36-year-old single mother of two boys - Jacob (7) and Lucas
(4) - who works as a pharmacologist for a biotech company in Boulder,
CO. When you look at her it's hard to believe that a) she's a mother of
two, and b) that she's 36-years-old. While 36 is certainly not old, her
physique and total package make her look ten years younger.
Gallegos
is inspired with her training by what she sees on others.
"When
I a see a person with a great physique, I channel my workouts so that
I get that specific look. This gal might have great shoulders that
I want and this other gal might have the leg definition Iâ??m looking for.
It also helps that I have the attitude that 'When there is a will, there
is a way!!' That philosophy has pulled me through many moments when I
couldnâ??t possibly find one more moment to take for training! Another reason
for my dedication to this sport is I want my boys to see how important
it is for me to have my own personal goals and achieve them while still
being a 'mom.' Girls can be great athletes too," she adds emphatically.
While she love to train her shoulders and legs the best, she first got
into fitness competitions because she was very skinny in high school.
She met a friend who was training to be a bodybuilder and ecided that
was the way to change her thin frame.
"I
didnâ??t get too far with the bodybuilding, but being competitive naturally
I knew there had to be some sport that I really enjoyed that I might also
compete in and it turns out fitness was my answer," she says.
While
Gallegos wants to go pro eventually, she also wants to model for health
magazines, but is driven primarily by the fitness lifestyle which enables
her to stay in great shape year round.
That
helps her with her other endeavors such as water skiing and supporting
her kids in their sports. Gallegos is also a classical violinist and has
trained since she was 7 years old, so expect more of the unexpected from
her as she prepares for the USAs and possibly the Nationals in 2003.
