2013 NPC Nationals Physique, Figure, Bikini and Bodybuilding
Championships

Lauderdale, FL - Over 900 competitors came to South
Florida in hopes of winning their pro cards and in the physique and
bodybuilding divisions 12 new athletes joined the ranks of the
IFBB. In women's bodybuilding, it was heavyweight Victoria
Dominguez of Las Vegas who pulled out the overall victory.
Trained by now fellow IFBB Pro Beth Wachter, Dominguez won the tough
heavyweight class edging out both Kelly Watkins and the shredded
Kristine Mele. In the final comparison during prejudging all
three of those heavies were put in the middle and compared so it was
a close call and all three athletes looked tremendous. Mele
was shredded and had moved up to the heavies and did not look out of
place at all against some huge women. Jennifer Kennedy, a
pre-show favorite came in at fourth and Alyssa Stroud rounded out
the top five with her fantastic lines and shape.
Middleweight Alana Shipp also looked amazing. The newcomer
from New York state has an amazing package balanced with shape, size
and symmetry and could have been a good choice for the overall as
well. In the light heavies it was Sarah Mathison who earned
her pro card with her balanced shape. Carla Rossi was a tough
second in the class, displaying incredible definition and
conditioning. In the lightweights it was Patricia Watson who
swept the judges scorecard to win the class and pro card.
Physique has been growing on both the women's and men's side and
this year at Nationals eight new pros were crowned.
Overall went to B Class champ Kelli Shrader who's tiny waistline and
dramatic v-taper was the judges pick. The second pro card in B
went to Nickie Clark and Mary Anderson took third. Other
physiques we liked in the class included sixth place finisher
Katelyn Hasley and Rocio Guillen.
The A class pros were Hanna Hallman who has a very nice overall
package and could have won the overall, and Lenore Kaiser. We
also like Giselle Fernandez who was probably too ripped and muscular
to place higher, but looked terrific.
In the C class Euika Desir deservedly won the class followed by
Dolly Lazare. Lisa Serrano has a nice look in the class as well
although she place just ninth. In D, the two pro card winners
were Lynn Reif and Kimberlay Raber. This class had a pretty
wide range of physiques but we liked the large full physique Rebecca
Leetham brought, although her legs didn't quite match her impressive
upper body, and LeeAnn Friemoth who's abs and triceps were
fantastic.
We're looking forward to seeing how all of these pros do in the IFBB
and hopefully all will be competing in 2014.
