Jessica Hofherr
What is your height and weight?
5’4”, 155 lbs
How old are you?
27
Where do you currently reside?
Ellicott City, MD
What is your profession?
Air Force
How did you get started into lifting weights and training?
I have always been athletic and into sports. I found CrossFit
through the military; then I wanted to get stronger so I began
squatting, deadlifting, and pressing about two years later.
Were you athletic growing up?
Yep, I ran cross country, played softball, and I’m most proud of
my BMX skillz at skateparks across California.
What other sports have you done or are you currently doing?
I also play linebacker for the
Baltimore Charm,
Legends Football League (formerly Lingerie Football League).
What are your goals in crossfit?
I’d like to compete next year and at least make it to Regionals
individually. I’m plenty strong enough, it would just be nice to
not be injured and be able to work at full capacity.
In your opinion, what is your best bodypart?
My back is super defined
Do you enjoy being strong? Why?
Fuck yes! People can tell I put hard work into it.
Do you enjoy performing/competing?
Yep, I enjoy being super competitive, but there’s always room to
grow. I love learning and whenever I’m in a competition, I get to
test myself... highlight my strengths AND weaknesses. Nothing
better.
Why do you love lifting weights?
I don’t know exactly, there’s just something satisfying about
being able to conquer a barbell. It’s something I’m naturally good
at and squats just feel right.
Tell us what a typical day is like for you.
A typical day involves me driving an hour to work, which I’m
currently in a technical school for the Air Force. When I’m done,
I drive back home and go to
CrossFit Syndicate,
where I coach a class, then get a workout in. On the
weekends, I practice football with my team 4-5 hours each day.
Do you like to show off your muscles when out in public or do
you cover up?
Ha, I have no choice but to show them off. They’re giant, and I
wear tank tops so I can breathe. In the winter though I like being
comfortable and wear big sweatshirts
What misconception about crossfit/fitness/being muscular would
you like to dispel?
One, that crossfit is not a cult - at my gym we’ve developed a
foundation of members and coaches that feels like a family. Two,
you really don’t have to be “in shape” to start crossfit. Just get
moving.
What kind of stuff would we find in the backseat of your
car?
I have my shoulder pads and helmet for football, olympic lifting
shoes, a new jar of
MHP
Dark Matter, and some Rogue stretching bands. Maybe some
water bottles too.
Favorite movie actor/actress?
Bruce Willis. Because Die Hard, duh.
Person you would like to meet?
I would love to have heard General Patton speak. The man is an
inspirational leader.
Anything else we should know about you?
I don’t know, I love sports and I suck at dancing. Oh, and
I’m single! haha
