USA - Debuts can be launching pads for many athletes, and the John Sherman Classic is a popular show for competitors to take the stage for the first or second time. The show has grown over the years and in 2006 was held at the Reliant Center next to the Houston Texans' football stadium and the old Astrodome (which was dwarfed by the new stadium).
In the women's open bodybuilding there may not have been a ton of athletes, but there was some good quality especially in the heavyweight class which was won by Janelle Miller. Look for more on the incredibly conditioned Miller as we have a new feature coming up on her soon.
Second in the class went to Shelly Silva who looked great, while another impressively conditioned athlete, Debbie Hiskins won the other open class.
Figure was won by Melissa Pearo who also competed at the Europa show and has a tremendous physique and a bright future ahead of her in the sport.
Other notables included the best and perhaps most muscular legs in figure belonging to Vanessa Boswell. She has great stage presence and a nicely muscle physique and placed fourth. She could have won the class as could have Melody Manlove who placed third - a placing that most of the crowd was perplexed by as well as Boswells.
