Debbie Bramwell came into the 2007 GNC NPC Teen, Collegiate and Masters
Nationals with lots of momentum. Having come so close to
winning
the show last year, she had focused her energies and a big crew of fans
and supporters were also on hand to lend their support. A
documentary film crew was also on hand so look for more about that here
as we get more details.
In the
end, it was a fairy
tale ending for Bramwell who won her class, the overall title, and the
entry into the IFBB Pro ranks that the title affords.
Over
the past several years this show overall has grown and the competition
in 2007 was impressive. The lightweight class was won by
Cynthia
Andersen who was in amazing shape. Crisp cuts and a nice
shape
for a well-balanced physique powered her to the class title.
Another
impressive physique was Karen Jones who ended up in 6th place since she
barely made it on stage to pose during finals. She sports
impressive leg development and if she comes in a tad harder in future
shows, is someone to keep an eye on.
Maria
Davis took second in the class followed by Angelita McGhee, Kelly Lease
and Susan Gnesda.
In
the middleweight class, Janet Kaufman's tight waist and nice lines beat
out Amy Sibcy's impressive muscularity and conditioning.
Sibcy's
legs were incredible and her overall physique very balanced.
In
third was Brenda Smith who had a nice routine and looked the best she
has looked for some time. Beth Wachter dedicated her routine
to
her mother and Gayle Bowles rounded out the top five. Cara
Lombardo took 7th - she has nice lines and just needs to come in a bit
harder.
The light heavyweights
were Bramwell's
class, and Anita Nikolich placed second to her. She looked
great
with her impressive leg development and great conditioning throughout.
Veteran National level athlete Michelle Brent was hard and
full
as she always is on stage and took third ahead of Theresa Hendricks and
Pam Franklin. Hendricks' hectic schedule was catching up to
her
and she wasn't as good as she was at Team U, but promises to bring it
to the USAs. Franklin looked solid and tight, but with such a
tough class, it was hard to place higher.
In
the
heavies, it was Michelle Neil who stormed the class. Deciding
to
enter the show last minute, she came into Pittsburgh in ridiculous
conditioning with striated glutes, cuts and vascularity throughout.
She was on and Emily Holder took the second spot followed by
Gerri Deach, Lauren Laplante-Rottman, and Marlene Churchill Wolverton.
Laplante-Rottman made a great deal of improvement in her
physique
and Wolverton's legs were outstanding.
Shar
Courtney
continued her impressive placings in bodybuilding since switching from
figure and took sixth. The biggest surprise was probably Kate Baird not
being placed higher than her seventh place finish. To honor
both
that placing and the hotel artwork, we decided to create a new award.
Named after Tom Nine for his dedication to this show, it is
the
"Tom Nine Screwed Award." This years honoree is Kate Baird -

a clip of the award ceremony.
In
the
teen divisions Lilly Jones competed in both bodybuilding and figure.
In bodybuilding she took second in collegiate
womens
bodybuilding getting beat by Kira
Neuman
who is a great athlete that should have a bright future in the sport.
Neuman has an impressive amount of muscle that looks great on
her
physique and she's now looking forward to taking the full year off to
train and build and to compete in 2008.
Masters
Figure also has been growing and this years overall champion Tivisay
Briceno was a deserving winner and will make a good IFBB Pro.
Briceno has a nice, tight physique with clean lines
to
compliment her tight waist. Chrissy Burton won the B class
(Briceno won the A class) and Jennifer Micheli won the C Class while
Natalie Calland took the D class.
Jan
Horn
looked incredible and would have made a good class champ and she should
be up for a class title soon. She placed second to Micheli in
the
C class by a single point! Other notables included Melanie
Hull who's legs and calves in particular were
impressive, Brenda
James also sported nice legs, while Valerie
Tinsley, Cherie
Duhe, and Tina Cross-Arabia all had impressive muscularity.
Tricia Temple had nice lines
and Milva
O'Donohue also looked good.
