Fitness beauties like Tara Richards usually don't fit in the same category as computer nerds, so it might come as a surprise that Richards is a mainframe programmer.

"Yes, I am a dork," she laughs. "But I love modeling, acting, and doing spokesmodeling work. In my free time, I update my website www.brighteyedbeauty.com, learn magic, and volunteer as well."

Richards started fitness because of her love of training and competition. So naturally fitness provided for the perfect combination of the two. When it comes to training, she likes to focus on abs and glutes, which are definitely strong points in her physique.

Although 2002 marked her National debut, Richards had previously won the Colorado State Tall Class Fitness Championship, and also dreams of being a professional surfer. Kind of hard to do when you are in landlocked Colorado, but then again, many would not have guessed her 'day' profession programming.

As far as her future in fitness is concerned, Richards, like a true surfer is willing to go with the flow - "wherever it takes me - hopefully the Olympia and the cover of Oxygen!"
