KC Inlow

by Gene X Hwang

KC Inlow flexes her bicep and tricepJuly 2004 - Bodybuilding and powerlifting have a lot in common and many world records are held by bodybuilders. With such luminaries like Elena Seiple and Heather Lee both also taking up powerlifting, it seems to be a trend. One trendsetter and world record holder in this same club is KC Inlow who holds two world records.

The 5'6" 130 lb. Inlow looks more like a bodybuilder year round as anyone who's seen her zooming about town can attest to. Staying in incredibly lean condition, she stays ripped and vascular year round, thanks to an incredible metabolism.

Almost four weeks after a show, Inlow still had striated glutes and she wasn't dieting since her next show is not for quite some time.

"My motivation to lift has always come from my heart. I feel extremely powerful inside and out when i lift weights and watch my body respond," she says.

There has also been a lot of positive reinforcement of the direction she's taken with her physique and some of it has come in unexpected places.

When most people think of Mardi Gras, they think of debauchery and you wouldn't think it would be a place where bodybuilders would go, but then on second thought, remembering any of the afterparties that go on at bodybuilding shows, it's probably not a surprise to think of bodybuilders there.

KC Inlow's ripped back"When I went to Mardi Gras this past May 2004, I got so much attention showing my muscles. Everyone made me feel like a celebrity - men, women and children from all ages and nationalities - a lot of them had never even seen a woman with muscles and everyone asked me so many questions and took so many pictures of me. I was honored," Inlow adds humbly.

At the 2004 NPC Contra Costa, Inlow looked impressive and she is focusing on improving some of her bodyparts for her next show much later in the year.

"My goals for the next show are to train the bodyparts that need more work: my back and shoulders. My next competiton will be the NPC Tournament of Champions in Anaheim,CA on September 18th."

What is obvious is that her self-confessed favorite bodyparts to train are her legs. From the glutes down to the calves, Inlow has a strong lower body and once she adds the thickness to her back and delts, she'll have a very nice, thick, balanced physique.

KC Inlow flexes her armOn the powerlifting side of things, Inlow has always enjoyed lifting heavy, and that in turn has led to an interest in powerlifting. The timing with preparation for her powerlifting competitions actually came at a tough time in her personal life, but she turned that energy and refocused it on the competition and in the end, won not only her class but also set state, national and world records at that meet.

Her final lifts in that competition were a 177.3 lb.bench press and a 347 lb. deadlift. Both are still records.

Inlow plans to continue to focus on both bodybuilding and powerlifting and recently admitted to making some quick strength gains while merely training for her bodybuilding competition.

"I believe i can accomplish anything I set my mind to do," she says and we definitely don't doubt that at all!
