Diana Ball
by gene x hwang - October 2002

Finland seems to be putting out impressive physiques at a pace higher than the other Scandanavian countries, or perhaps it's just that many of them are making it over to the States, but yet another export is Diana Ball.
Like Pauliina Talus and Marja Lehtonene, the 5'10", 175 lb. Ball makes an immediate impact with her height and striking blue eyes, not to mention her long dark hair. But those are just the beginning of Ball's impressive statistics. She's not afraid to lift, and really enjoys going heavy and hard when she trains.

"I always like to train as heavy as I can. For example, I did dropsets of one-arm dumbell rows at the Venice Beach Gold's Gym two days ago for finishing moves for my back with 130 lbs. for five reps, then 95 lbs. for six, and 55 lbs. for four reps. Talk about hardcore!!"

And you can see how it impacts her physique too.

"I do enjoy standing out in a crowd. I used to be a fashion model and actress in a soap opera, but when I started to train seriously, I had to choose between training and work. I enjoy the feeling of power so much that I continued training. I never liked myself at 130 lbs. and skinny," adds Ball.

That skinny look may still be 'in' for the general populace worldwide, but people's ideals are changing, especially in the U.S.
"My looks are different from most of women out there, but in the USA, people give me compliments - even women. Many times people are jealous. I think it is because of low self esteem, but I don't let it bother me. I'm down to earth so as soon as people talk to me they find out that I'm a nice person."

Of course with all of Ball's travel of late, things have been pretty hectic, so she's been enjoying her single life.

"I travel a lot so dating is difficult at the moment. And if a person is not an athlete, he might not understand why I have to eat every three hours," she adds.

Diana Ball's Lifts

Dumbell Bench Presses: 90 lbs. per hand for 6 reps

Barbell Curls: 112 lbs. for 5 reps

Leg Presses: 900 lbs. for 6 reps

All other lifts are on her web site, as well as her power gallery

Ball does find time to have fun though. She loves to go out dancing, and enjoys tennis too.
"When I go out dancing I drink only water. Good music is all I need to make me move. It's so sad to see those people who can not let themselves go without alcohol or drugs - what a waste!

"I used to play and even compeed in tennis when I was young. I still like to go to Wimbledon to see women playing. I've also trained in freestyle wrestling, a tough sport! I like good movies and stay home more than I go out partying though," says Ball.

Although currently still touring the US, Ball promises to stay in the public eye.

"See my site (link below) to know what is going on with me and I'll be shooting videos in Las Vegas soon so you all can see me in action!"
